Digital Guardians
Digital Guardians" premiered the latest collection of Saga Kakala silk scarfs in collaboration with 3D designer Maria Gudjohnsen.
The 3D printed images introduced the audience to Icelandic mythical beings in a strange and contemporary light. The creatures had the adventurous task of guarding archeological relics of Iceland, or stones found in Icelandic nature. The works shed new light on the mysterious world of Icelandic folklore.
This included the Marbendill that watched over obsidian, Lagarfljótsormurinn that safeguarded Heulandite, and Skötumóðir that stood sentinel over the Icelandic spar.
The silk scarfs transcended the physical world, where augmented reality brought them to life as video works, blending the virtual and physical worlds seamlessly.
